Spleenhouse

“Spleenhouse” involved relocating a heritage greenhouse from a farm in LaSalle, Ontario to the Art Gallery of Windsor. In the gallery, video footage of French-Canadian farmers–who are losing their land to urban sprawl–was projected on the roof of the greenhouse. Traditional vegetable plants were grown inside the greenhouse using the non-full-spectrum light of the projector. This is a “spatial nemesis” project that allowed the stucture to impose itself on the city that is squeezing it off of its land. The same piece of land is also featured in the project Treachery.
