Dreadmill involves
hardwiring a computer to a treadmill so that a runner's speed and heart
rate power a multimedia projection. In performances of 5-7 kms, O'Gorman
runs and controls a mutlimedia interface while lecturing about the impact
of technology on the body. This piece laments the sedentary effects
of our “screen culture” as it simultaneously enacts the
possibility for more active and creative engagement with new media technology.
